Sequential Spelling allows me to have Spelling once a day for 1st and 3rd grade kids (they read at sixth grade level and above, so spelling had to incorporate harder words at an earlier age). The only thing I would have preferred was a sample sentence for all the less common words (then I don't have to find a dictionary that includes the word that stumps me sentence-wise)

Seq. Spelling matches my spelling needs well by providing an immediate self-check, teaching by word/spelling families, and building on spelling words (i.e., adding prefixes and suffixes).

I really love the concept. Arranging words by the pattern makes so much more sense that trying to memorize spelling rules and exceptions.

I like how it "builds" simple words into longer, more complex words.

Sequential Spelling has increased my daughter's confidence in spelling a great deal. I like its repetition and low-pressure approach. It's the first program for dyslexics that she hasn't resisted. I think that's because she doesn't find it demeaning (babyish.)

My children are actually getting it - the relationships between and within words AND they are retaining the information - I LOVE this program!

We needed a program with some organization to it. Many programs are just random words assigned without any common thread existing within the group. I also think spelling and writing should be integrated.

It makes it possible for my child to spell. She doesn't get other programs.

I used SS for one year in homeschooling. My children liked it because it was not competitive. I also used the list for faster reading for my slow reader.

I am using this as spelling for my older 2 children. I like it and they respond well. My daughter who will be entering 1st grade in the fall is doing very well!

My daughters (7 and 9) are doing well with S.S. One of them is dyslexic. One a naturally gifted speller....both working the same levels together. They like the simplicity of the program....no goofy pictures or distractions. They also like the encouraging words at the bottom of the workbooks. I like the patterning and the number of words for each lesson. I would like to see a few of the spelling rules included in the text....I know "change the Y to an I and add ED, ER, etc...but I didn't learn the rules as a kid, and therefore, find teaching spelling a bit more difficult.

SS is easy to use. It doesn't take much time each day. My son's reading and spelling skills have improved. He sees its value and has noticed his improvements.

I like the spelling list but also use other spelling words to memorize as well. I think AVKO is great for understanding the language. It has been a great help.

My son is dyslexic (not officially diagnosed, but it’s obvious). He failed and was frustrated and accomplished nothing with at least 4 other spelling programs. He LOVES Sequential Spelling. He feels accomplished; he feels mastery. He does not spend hours writing (which is difficult for him). It is not wasted time. He does the work, he completes it within the timeframe of his attention span and he feels a sense of control and mastery when finished.

Sequential Spelling is easy to use and really helps the kids understand spelling and reading through the use of word families. This has been a wonderful tool that requires no real preparation to teach. It also reinforces my own spelling skills as I give the lists to my children.

We have just started with the first book. It is working wonderfully. Even the children across the street want to do spelling with our children. It truly gives confidence to children. My own son said he has trouble with words over 5 letters. He was thrilled to spell a word with 11 letters. This program has been the best we have used so far. I only wish that it came with more sentences for each word.

I really like the sequential spelling program because it has helped my son so much. He has a big fear of being wrong and with this program I am not checking his work and this is giving him confidence. I am not sure how an independent program would work but I would be willing to try it.

I would love an automated system, as I am a homeschooling mother of 6 and the time it would save is valuable to me!! I have used this system for one year with my daughter and have seen dramatic improvement with her reading and spelling skills. I plan to use it with the next 4 children as well. I feel that it is the ultimate way to train the brain in our complex English language. It is well worth the time each day to work with the child, but an automated system would be a huge bonus, allowing the child(ren) to work more independently.

I could not believe the immediate change in my daughter after using the sample lessons of Sequential Spelling. I am so glad I found your website. It would be nice to have a way to know what some of the more obscure words mean. I sometimes have difficulty thinking of sentences.

So far I have been very happy with this program - using it for one year.

SS has been a great resource for me and my son who struggles with words (esp. spelling). It is easy and helps him to have success every day. The repetition helps his memory too.

I like the way a misspelled word is corrected immediately.
