Accessories for AVKO Materials

There are a number of supplies that can help you use AVKO's materials efficiently, effectively, and easily.  This is a non-exhaustive list but will give you an idea of what you could use.  The Google Ads to the right will help direct you to online vendors and give you an idea of how much the supplies cost.  AVKO does not have any partnerships with any of the companies mentioned or those that appear to the right.

Sequential Spelling:

  • The Student Response Book for Sequential Spelling
Although completely optional, this convenient book will help organize your student's spelling tests and prevent him from seeing the previous days' words, thus not allowing him to use them as a mental crutch.
  • Individual Dry erase Board
A small dry-erase board will facilitate your one-on-one spelling experience.  Easily show the correct spellings, use different colors for the parts of the words, and easily erase.
  • Large Easel Dry erase board
A large dry erase easel will facilitate your one-to-many spelling experience and show the correct spellings to numerous students.
  • Dry erase markers
Show the different parts of the word (onsets, rimes, base / root words) in different colors.
  • Colored Chalk
For classroom teachers or those who don't like dry-erase markers.
  • (Magnetic) Chalkboard Spray Paint
For those who don't already have a chalkboard, you can use this great paint to make your own chalkboard on any wall or other surface.  Many brands are also magnetic.  This is great for an "idea wall," brainstorming, murals, and meetings as well.
  • Kitchen (Egg) Timer
We recommend that no more than 10-15 minutes be taken for each lesson.  AVKO believes that more learning takes places in a few short lessons than one long lesson.  Keep to a timer; a kitchen timer will help you.
