Word games are great for practicing spelling and reading skills without all of the frustration or pressure of homework, busy work, or tests.  Here are some resources for great word games for your students.

AVKO has launched a series of Engaging Language Kits (1-7) that correspond to each of the levels of Sequential Spelling.  These kits have pages and pages of word games using the words and word families of Sequential Spelling.  They also contain creative writing prompts, dictation exercises, proverbs, critical / abstract thinking, and idioms.

• Secret Files - A logic game where you sort word cards into various drawers...but you have to figure out which category belongs in which drawer.  Helps with logic, vocabulary, and higher order thinking skills.
• Engage from Oxford University Press - Word games and lessons from Oxford University Press, including hear and write, word searches, and more.
• Project from Oxford University Press - Grammar and writing exercises from Oxford University Press.
• Word games on Yahoo! - Great word games, including Book Worm, Scrabble, and Family Feud.
• WebCrosswords - Crossword puzzles for the more advanced players. 
• Wheel of Fortune - Play America's Game online.
